Elkhart County hosts an Indiana Master Naturalist Class each year. The 2016 will be held on Thursdays, between Labor Day and Thanksgiving from 4-7 PM. Classes visit various parks throughout the county. After completing the class and quiz, members are expected to complete 23 volunteer hours to graduate. Volunteer hours are learned by assisting local natural resources agencies and organizations with educational programs, invasive species removal, maintaining trails, and other work that promotes the natural resource mission of that group.
